September 2015:

Now that Labor Day has come and gone, and the lazy days of summer are over, we all have to shift gears.
From shorts and bare feet to long pants and shoes, our mind set is now getting our families back to school and preparing ourselves for the High Holidays that suddenly appear, where did they come from so quickly. Another year, what did we do in 5775 and what do we hope to do in 5776? (more…)

Hello and welcome 5776

You were a good year, 5775. We welcomed many new members and saw an increase in our Hebrew school and well as K’tanim. Our youth groups were active as were our social action people and the L’Chaim and Adult Ed. (more…)

April 2015:

Dear members:
A few days before Pesach I walk into the kitchen at TBS and there are people at the sink peeling eggs, people at the stove making matzah balls. I then go into the social hall and I count 35 long tables, 300 chairs; the blue tablecloths are on, the plates, cups, silverware, napkins, salt and pepper shakers and don’t forget the Haggadahs, the Seder plates are on the table and the decorations are up. Like magic, our social hall is now a banquet hall. (more…)

Dear Members,

One of the perks of being President is that you get to sit up on the Bimah giving you a unobstructed view of the congregants. Who are the Friday night regulars, and Saturday morning regulars, who is new, who haven’t we seen in a while? I try to make sure that after services at the oneg or the Saturday Kiddush, I go to any new people, introduce myself and welcome them to TBS. (more…)

In my spare time (away from TBS) I enjoy watching basket- ball at the college level. I go to Qunnipiac and UConn Women’s games. What I learn from watching them is to have a great team you must have teamwork. (more…)

Dear members:
As I write this article, I was looking over the calendar for the month of November and it struck me that all the days and nights show some sort of activity, from USY and Kadima, K’tanim, movie series, adult ed classes, men’s club, sisterhood meetings and programs, lunch and learn, L’chaim Havdeli, social action, Sunday morning Rabbi’s programs, a book discussion later in the month, board of ed, board of directors meetings, Hebrew school program, and yes, daily morning and evening Minyans and Friday night services and of course, Shabbat.
