Apparently he fell from a cliff while hiking alone. He was 79 years old. When we first met, we were two poor kids at Rutgers who could not afford to live in a dorm. Due to the generosity of Rabbi Julius Funk z"l, we were allowed to live in the two wings of the Hillel House stage, in exchange of setting up chairs and tables for events and locking up afterwards. Dues Restructuring Motion Fails 476 to 418

March 9, 2014 / 7 Adar II 5774Hevre,After months of discussion and evaluation, our kehillot have voted not to accept the new dues system proposed by the United Synagogue board. The decision was made today in a vote (418 yes, 476 no and 5 abstentions) by representatives of 318 synagogues participating in the meeting of our General Assembly of Kehillot. (TBS cast its 4 votes to approve the motion. ed.)Before discussing next steps, we’d like to note the marked sea change this vote represents in the governance of United Synagogue and its relationship with affiliated kehillot. USCJ Dues Restructuring

Information on Proposed New Dues System As published on the USCJ website www.uscj.org At 1 p.m. on March 9, 2014, USCJ kehillot will vote on a proposed new dues system based on a percent of synagogue operating revenues rather than number of family units. The rate would be set at 2.25 percent. Based on kehilla feedback, this proposal has been SIGNIFICANTLY REVISED since first presented at the General Assembly of Kehillot in October 2013. According to the Bible, when the ancient Israelites led by the prophet and leader Joshua entered the Land of Israel, the city of Shiloh became the resting place of the Tabernacle which held the Ark of the Covenant. Recently, archaeologists doing excavations in Shiloh have discovered holes carved into the the rock which may indicate that the site was the location of the ancient Israelite tabernacle.
