February 2025: President’s Message

As has been the case for the last few month, I am writing this message right before the submission deadline.  I knew I wanted to write about the formation of the Nominating Committee this month, so I looked back at previous synagogue bulletins for inspiration.  Something Lauren wrote in last year’s February bulletin really stood out to me.  She talked about how becoming involved with the synagogue could take different paths, whether it is “dipping a toe in the water or jumping in with both feet.”

Back in June, during my Installation speech, I joked about how, when I was first approached to become a Board member, it would be a good way to slowly get involved during my three-year term.  However, I happily “jumped in with both feet” and started taking on more responsibility as an officer.

Once again, we will be forming the Nominating Committee in February, and, over the next several months, they will be looking for members who are willing to “dip a toe in the water” and become Board members. Maybe some may want to “jump in,” but that is not required. The synagogue also needs new voices who can give insight into how the synagogue can help members and continue to grow. So, if you get a call from a member of the committee, please take the time to really consider what a difference you could make.  After all, it’s only one Board meeting a month.
