June 2014: From TBS President Bryan H. Pines

I would like to express my appreciation for all the volunteers who helped make our Passover Second Seder a success. Familiar tasks were performed once again by individuals comfortable with their role in the preparation of the event. I helped set the tables, but hope someday of having the honor of using my culinary skills in the kitchen. Every detail was considered to ensure a beautiful evening. Even the rain could not hamper the event.

Welcoming the Jewish community to share in celebrating Simchas in our TBS home is a proud accomplishment. It is wonderful that we provided an opportunity for everyone to have an expense free Passover Seder together. Debby, Molly and I had the pleasure of sitting with guests from the community. We listened and talked with these individuals who were so thankful to share the holiday with us. It was rewarding to participate at the Seder from the perspective of our table. Our guests embraced the excitement and celebration of the meal. We were also extremely fortunate to sit with another family who are founding members of Temple Beth Sholom. Like my parents, they were active in the Hamden Jewish community in the 1940s, and shared their vision of a Conservative Shul in the town of Hamden. We had an enlightening discussion. Yasher Koach to everyone who made this evening a success.
