It has been one year since I was elected President-elect of Temple Beth Sholom. One of the many thoughts I have had in that time is, “What I am going to write in my first President’s Message for the Bulletin?” I am in the process of writing my speech for the Installation and I don’t want to be repetitive. So, I am going to keep this message short.
As we enter the summer, it always seems that events at TBS slow down. However, while there may not be major events occurring, there are still opportunities to get together either in the person or on Zoom. I would like to encourage everyone to find one time this summer to attend an event. It might be one Shabbat service on Friday night or Saturday morning. Maybe attend one of the book club meetings, which is now in its 4th year and going strong. Or perhaps attend the Rabbi’s Bible Class. Over the last few months, I have been attending the Rabbi’s Bible Class more often, and whether the topic of the week is about current events or a historical topic, the discussions are always enlightening and thoughtful.
While this message is coming out after this year’s Installation, I hope that you were able attend the event to see and celebrate the incoming Board of Directors and Officers. If were not able to attend, my speech will be in the next issue of the Temple Bulletin. I hope you have a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing you at a Temple event soon.
