January 2026 President’s Message

As the crisp air of January settles in and we head into the cold of winter, I’m happy to report that Temple Beth Sholom is open, warm, and bustling with programs and activities. (And unlike this time last year, I’m delighted to share that the building has heat!)

One of our recent highlights was the five-week Tai Chi class held on Wednesday nights throughout November and December, expertly led by David Bailey. The response was wonderful, with around 10 dedicated members joining us over the five sessions. Having attended all five sessions myself, I can personally attest to the truly relaxful and restorative way it was to spend about 45 minutes each week. It was an excellent opportunity to focus on mindfulness and gentle movement right in the middle of our busy weeks. Given the enthusiasm and success of this initial offering, we are already planning to resume these weekly classes in the spring, so please keep an eye out for details on when the sessions will resume.

On the weekend of May 2 and 3rd, we will be once again holding a Lag B’omer camp weekend. Registration is starting this month and details are in this bulletin. You don’t need to attend both days or overnight, you can choose to attend both or just one of the days. Last year, we attended just on Sunday and had a great time. It was the first time I ever tried archery and amazingly I actually hit the target a few times. I encourage everyone to look through the details and consider joining us for what promises to be another enjoyable Lag B’Omer celebration.
